Brief 3 - DFGA pfd covers.
Development of cover image for the Digital Film, Games and animation yearbook based around the images we shot in the studio. This makes use of a very simple and bold typographic approach, using the elements within the image to give depth. Crossing some of the elements over the writing gives the appearance that they are in front of the text. For the back, the idea was to show the process behind the finished image on the front. The strings holding the shapes up have been left in for this one and the main text (DFGA) has been reflected and placed behind certain elements to give the impression that the image has been taken from the other side.
I'm really happy with these covers, perhaps the colour values could do with a little tweaking to get them more inline, however this could be part of the image, that the front cover has a much more finished appearance than the back.

Brief 3 - DFGA yearbook
dfga yearbook in its final stages. More development needed in terms of colour and type selection, particularly the white text on yellow. This can become a little difficult to read, so we may need to increase type weight or change the colour to get good legibility.

Brief 3 - DFGA further spread development
Development of layouts for the DFGA yearbook. Holding page is still being used for the cover page, so this will change in the final iteration of the yearbook, and there is also a number of students whose information and images are still needed. Red, green and blue are currently being used to divide the disciplines into which the students fit, and this will also change, to be more in line with the photography we have done of the paper shapes.
Layouts here are very simple, and are intended simply to show off the students images. All the spreads will be linked from the index page at the start as will the information for each student, either their website or e-mail address.

Brief 3 - DFGA shoot 2
Today we booked out the studio to get more professional shots for the DFGA yearbook title pages and cover. We initially booked out the smallest studio, however when we arrived at the studio it turned out that the larger studio was available for the day.
This took a little longer to set up and with none of us having that much experience in photography studios took a while to set up, however the end product should be much more professional. There were initial problems with the flash, as the second image illustrates as, and a number of various issues with the lighting rig but towards the end we became much more comfortable.

Brief 3 - DFGA batch 1
First batch of images with the set up for DFGA.
We then changed the white balance settings and seemed to get much better images with the set up.
