Brief 2 - Ben Harris Web presence
Initially to match the word mark on the business cards I used a centrally aligned text layout for the logo on the website. As well as using the same logo I also wanted to keep the consistency of colour from the cards. Using a black background seemed a fairly good option, making the web logo white to stand off the backdrop.
It is also interesting to see how the photographs stand off the black background, however it is clear that often parts of the images are lost against the black. Below is the centrally aligned logo placed above the navigation... I'm not sure that this is working very well as it makes for a strange layout above the left aligned navigation.
Left aligning the logo seemed like a viable option as the simplicity means that it is quite easily recognisable as the same word mark regardless of whether it's left or centrally aligned. Again making it white was necessary to make it stand off the black background.
Above is the left aligned mark in situe, which I think it works well, much more effective than central.
Above are examples of where images against the black create a strange
To see how the images are best displayed I also tried the site with a white background, just to see how a direct contrast to the black would affect the images. Similarly to the flat black backdrop, there are a number of instances where parts of the image are lost to the background. Maybe even using a mid grey background could give the images the best framing. Below are some instances of lighter sections of the image being lost to the background.
